Inside LA - The Los Angeles Lowdown
Best Things To Do In LA, March 2022
There are always a ton of things happening here – but what are the best things to do in LA in March 2022? From Infinity Rooms to St Patrick’s Day Parades at the beach, via marathons, secret gardens and Noah’s Ark, Los Angeles has it all this month – and we’ve got the lowdown for you right here.
1. VISIT YAYOI KUSAMA’S INFINITY MIRROR ROOMS (ALL MONTH).
Visit the new kid on the block that’s now the big kid on the block. In addition to the superlative two thousand piece collection rattling around upstairs, the TWO infinity rooms downstairs have reopened now too. You could even visit MedMen in downtown on the way in – strictly for the purposes of better appreciating Kusama’s Longing for Eternity, of course!
2. WATCH SPRING TRAINING AT DODGERS STADIUM (MARCH 29 & 31).
What could possibly be a better thing to do in Los Angeles in Spring than take part in this time-honored ritual, especially as it’s outside and, therefore, safer in terms of Covid-19? As recently as 2020 the Dodgers won the actual World Series and they came within a whisker of making the play-offs last year. Welcome the Dodgers home for the new season!
3. DO – OR JUST WATCH – THE LA MARATHON (MARCH 20).
If #2 seems to sedate for you, how about joining the largest marathon on the west coast (with all the other masochists who are taking part) and putting yourself through a living hell? Seriously – you may not want to run for anything like 26 miles (and I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t), but why not show up and cheer on the foolhardy, but determined, souls that do? It’s a great day.
4. SEE HAMILTON AT THE PANTAGES THEATRE (FROM MARCH 1-20).
What can we say about Hamilton that hasn’t already been said. Put simply, it’s a must-see. The musical phenomenon is BACK at the Pantages this month, but don’t wait until the last minute, book now.
5. VISIT DESCANSO GARDENS (ALL MONTH).
Descanso Gardens is a unique Southern California landscape distinguished by its specialized botanic collections, historical significance, and rare natural beauty. Their mission is to offer people an experience close to nature and cultivate an understanding of the natural world and people’s place in it through inspiration, education and example. The Descanso Gardens is a – somewhat – hidden treasure of Los Angeles, perched in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in La Cañada and is well worth a visit.
6. JOSE GONZALEZ AT THE WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL (MARCH 15).
Fresh off the release of his new album Local Valley, singer-songwriter José González comes to Walt Disney Concert Hall as part of a fully solo tour. The Swedish musician’s understated appeal and unabashed intimacy have made his music “one of the most recognizable sounds in indie rock” according to Billboard, and Rolling Stone has praised his “subtle, carefully crafted music.” Armed with nylon-stringed guitars and a catalog of gorgeous songs, he’ll once again prove that music doesn’t need to be loud to be heard. And the Walt Disney Concert Hall has to be one of the best places to enjoy his music!
7. VISIT NOAH’S ARK – AT THE SKIRBALL CENTER (ALL MONTH).
Noah’s Ark at the Skirball is back! This award-winning children’s and family destination invites visitors of all generations to play, climb, build, explore, make believe and make friends – all while exploring an eight-thousand-square-foot wooden ark, filled to the rafters with whimsical animals and storm clouds that will spark their senses. Share in a timeless story – and together envision a better world.
8. CELEBRATE ST PATRICK’S DAY AT HERMOSA BEACH (MARCH 12).
What could be more authentic to Los Angeles than celebrating the famous patron saint of Ireland? Well, LA may not be as Irish as other cities in the US, such as Boston, New York and Chicago, but Angelenos need no excuse for a street party and we know how to make the most of the day. So, why not head down to Hermosa Beach for the annual St Patrick’s day Parade, after all the weather’s so much better for an outdoors event than back home on the Emerald Isle.
