10 Best Things To Do In LA In November

10 best things to do in LA in November
An example of some of the sunsets we get in LA during Fall

Great things are happening in Los Angeles this month. From fairytale forests to hiking the peaks of Los Angeles, via red carpets, we’ve got the lowdown for you here. Every month The Real Los Angeles Tours produces a list of ten of the top events or attractions in southern California for visitors or residents of the city of angels to experience. Some are free, some are not, but doing any of them will give you an authentic experience of Los Angeles’ food, music, art and/or general joie-de-vivre. Have fun, be safe and let us know what you think of the 10 Best Things to Do in LA in November.

1. VISIT AN ENCHANTED FOREST (NOVEMBER 20 – JANUARY 8, 2023)

This is an interactive, after dark experience that is well worth checking out. It features a one-mile walk through unique lighting experiences at Descanso Gardens (which is always worth visiting anyway).

Tickets available here.

2. GO TO A BOOK READING OF HIS OWN BOOK BY QUENTIN TARANTINO (NOVEMBER 3)

Quentin Tarantino is reading from his new book Cinema Speculation at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel, on Broadway, in downtown. The 1970’s are often seen as a Golden Age of Cinema, and Tarantino discusses particular films that have made an impact on him from that decade in the book. His interviews are usually no-holds-barred and substantive.

Tickets available here.

3. ENCANTO CONCERT & SCREENING AT HOLLYWOOD BOWL (NOVEMBER 11-12)

The Family Madrigal is gathering to talk about… You know who! The film will be screened, a full orchestra will provide the score and cast members from the movie will make guest appearances. Definitely a must do event in LA this November.

Tickets available here.

4. VISIT THE NEW ACADEMY MUSEUM (ALL MONTH)

The Academy Museum opened during the pandemic, so maybe it hasn’t got all the attention that it deserved. It joins a stellar list of institutions at the Museum row on Miracle Mile – LACMA, the La Brea Tar Pits Museum and the Petersen. Nevertheless the Academy Museum holds a special place in the heart of LA because of our history. At some point you have to do this!

Tickets available here.

5. VISIT A FOREST OF LIGHT (NOVEMBER 11 – JANUARY 8, 2023)

This is an internationally acclaimed exhibition using light, art and music that transforms the Arboretum in Arcadia into an illuminated evening experience! Even better, you can visit using the Metro L Line.

Tickets available here.

6. GO TO A COMEDY SHOW (ALL MONTH)

Who couldn’t do with a good laugh? Most of LA’s comedy clubs have reopened with shows featuring lineups of both household names and up-and-coming stand-ups. Hollywood Improv has a full slate of shows and The Comedy Store is open almost nightly. Don’t Tell Comedy is an underground series of “secret” standup shows offering pop-up shows at outdoor venues, including parking lots and rooftops.

7. GO TO A CONCERT (ALL MONTH)

There are always great bands coming to Los Angeles to perform. A lot of them live here. This month some of the highlights are Elton JohnHarry StylesLizzo and for something a little more out there – Orville Peck

8. WATCH AN AMAZING SUNSET OVER LA (ALL MONTH)

Mount Hollywood Hike

We have some great sunsets here – maybe it’s the pollution ;-). November’s a good time to hike up into the hills above LA and watch the sun set on the city of Angels. Our Mount Hollywood Hike starts at 3 pm, finishing at the Griffith Observatory at around 5.30 pm. Is there a better timing? As the sun drops below the Hollywood Hills after another day working in the dream factory, with the Observatory’s dome in front of you – it’s just a magical time. What can I say? That’s why it’s been in so many movies.

Tickets available here.

9. AFI FILM FESTIVAL (NOVEMBER 2-6)

The American Film Institute was founded by Presidential decree in the 1960’s, to preserve American film heritage, educate filmmakers and honor the artists working in film. Obviously it’s always been based in Los Angeles. Every year the AFI organizes a film festival here and it’s a great place to see some classics screening next to movies by emerging filmmakers. There are also panel discussions with well-known directors, writers and actors (amongst others).

Tickets available here.

10. COMPLEXCON, LONG BEACH (NOVEMBER 19-20)

This event is part futurist convention and part music festival. It feels very Californian .There are performances by several artists, including Pharrell and Teriyaki Boyz, as well as keynote talks and live podcasts with thinkers, activists and influencers. And there’s lots of shopping.

Tickets available here.
